Chris & Jan's Colorful, Filipino-Influenced Wedding at Godric Grove
I don’t think this wedding could have been any more joyful! Upon meeting Jan and Chris for the first time, I could tell they were the most genuine, fun-loving and caring people. And their big day reflected just that. While this was a day to celebrate the love between two people, it really came together as a union of all of their family and friends.
In particular, they included several Filipino wedding traditions to honor the bride’s family heritage. During the ceremony, they included a veiling, representing support from friends and family covering them with love, the tying of a nuptial cord, symbolizing intertwined destinies and everlasting love, and a coin blessing, illustrating the sharing of earthly possessions and the promise of a beautiful future together. The father of the bride wore a Barong Tagalog, an embroidered, long-sleeved formal shirt for men and the national dress of the Philippines. But the most fun of all was the Tinikling dance which the bride and groom surprised their guests with! They learned and performed this in honor of her father who took them on a trip to the Philippines for almost a month during their second year of dating. Such a special tribute and memory!
This was a wedding with a LOT of thought put into the many little details, and it came together so seamlessly. From the gorgeous pops of color in the flower arrangements to the exquisite dress and the many games for their friends and family to play during cocktail hour, it was all just perfect. You know when you get talking with friends about weddings you’ve been to, and you reminisce about the ones that stand out? This will definitely be one of those for all of the guests, I guarantee. How lucky they are to be part of Jan & Chris’s lives, and how lucky I was to capture it for them.
